Every now and then I’ll to share a house tour of a home that’s caught my eye for one reason or another. It might be because of the current season, or a life event happening. Or, just a need for some inspiration for a project. But today I thought I’d veer off course a bit and provide you with a tour of a hotel instead of a house – more on that in a minute…
If you saw my Instagram post this past weekend, you know my husband and I went for a mini getaway to Milwaukee. We try to do a few of these quick one night overnights throughout the year together. They give us a chance to reconnect when things get a bit mundane from the grind of everyday life, and allow us to actually have some real conversations. You know, the ones that don’t get interrupted by kiddos every 5 seconds?
Typically, we look for a quiet, low-key location to recharge a bit. But this time I was in need of a little city life, and Milwaukee was the closest solution. I’d been wanting to check out the Third Ward District since last summer when I made a quick trip down to West Elm, but hadn’t had time for much else. The Third Ward has amazing shopping, trendy coffee shops, and a vibrant bar and restaurant scene. I’ll assure you we took advantage of all these things while there, including a stop at The Milwaukee Public Market’s new ice bar. So cool. Pardon the cheesy pun.
I’d also been itching to spend a night at the new Kimpton Journeyman Hotel in the Third Ward. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a total hotel snob. I love staying somewhere with great views and great style – and this hotel totally fit the bill. Modern light fixtures, subway tile, brass fixtures, marble hexagon flooring, clean lines – and great service too. We had an amazing stay and I’d totally recommend it if you are ever in Milwaukee. See for yourself:
Since I only had my cell phone along to take photos (silly me), all images are via Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group.
