I am super excited to be participating in the One Room Challenge that starts this week! For those who aren’t familiar with this challenge, you can check it out more details here, but basically it’s working to transform one room in you house during a six week period and sharing as you go. Starting this Thursday, and throughout the six week process I will be blogging about the space I’m transforming, and sharing the progress, ideas and challenges as I go. I’m working to update our family room, which is the space we spend most of our family time in during the colder months. It’s time to say ‘Bye Felicia’ to the matchy-matchy sofa set I purchased when I was just out of college, and hello to a more grown up, yet family friendly space. The plans for this space have been in the works for months, and I can’t wait for it all to come together during this challenge.
To give you some insight into the direction I’ll be taking with the space in, I thought I’d share a house tour that provided me with a little inspiration during the planning phase. It’s really less of a house tour, and more of just a living room tour, but last thing I need is inspiration to change a different area of my house right now. One at a time, one at a time… This space was designed by the wonderfully talented Emily Henderson. I really relate to her style, and as always, she did an amazing job with this makeover. This space combines a bit of an airy, modern, vintage, traditional combination that seems to all work seamlessly together, and is what I’m going to attempt in my family room make over. Take a look:
Be sure to check back on Thursday to see my first post of the One Room Challenge where you will see some photos of my current space, and I’ll reveal the full plans for the transformation as well!
