It’s been a long week for me already, and its not over yet [sigh]. Luckily, the long Memorial Day holiday weekend is just around the corner, so just a couple more days until some needed R&R is on the agenda. We are fortunate to have a summer place that we can get away to on most weekends during the summer months. Its nothing fancy, buts it’s all ours – and it offers a much needed escape from the regular grind of our weekday schedule. Nestled in the trees, with a crystal clear, sandy bottom lake just steps away, fancy or not, we have everything we could possibly need.
Over the past few years we’ve worked to update the place and incorporate our style into it – good bye cheap 90’s decor, hello lake house style. While we still have a long way to go [because who wants to work at the place they are getting away to in order to escape work?!], I’ve tried to incorporate some of the elements of the lake house style homes that I adore so much. My affection really does runs deep for the nautical/coastal style – and while it is not how I decorate my main home, it is a perfect fit for our summer place. When it comes to lake house style, no one does it much better than Muskoka Living. Case in point: this dreamy lake house on Lake Rosseau in Port Carlin, Ontario. The home was designed with family and relaxation in mind. Walls of windows let the views of the lake sweep in and make the space feel light, bright and open. Decorated primarily in neutrals, but with a nod to coastal, nautical decor though the use of various shades of blues and warm beachy wood tones, this home has the casual feeling that makes you want to stay awhile [and I mean a LONG while].
